Because many people who could benefit from healing never make it to a psychiatrist’s office — and joy, art, and music are their own kind of medicine.

So I bring the message to where people already gather — in celebration, in culture, in community. As emcee and mental health advocate for the Bronzeville Smooth Jazz Festival and the Emerging Artists Exhibition Series, I’m — as far as I know — the only psychiatrist doing this at a major music festival and art series. The events are joyful. The messages are real. And healing shows up where people didn’t expect to find it.
Every August in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, thousands gather for a free day of jazz, culture, and community. I’ve been the emcee since the beginning — weaving mental health messages into a day where people were only expecting great music.

Save the date. Free admission, free parking, and a full day of music, community, and mental wellness under the sun.
The Emerging Artists Exhibition Series celebrates and elevates the voices of talented, emerging artists — creating a future where their artistry can flourish and inspire. As emcee and mental health advocate, I bring the same messages of empowerment and brain health to gallery audiences and the artists themselves.

Beyond the festival and gallery, I emcee corporate galas, award shows, and cultural celebrations — hosting with presence, warmth, and purpose. Every time the mic is handed to me, it’s an opportunity to weave in brain health and empowerment for the audience.

If you’re producing a community event, a cultural celebration, or a gathering where mental wellness deserves a voice on the mic — I’d love to be part of it.
