Dr. Balin A. Durr is a dynamic, double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with a fresh, transformative approach — improving the lives of children, teens, adults, and families through better brain health and mind-body wellness. With more than 25 years of clinical experience, her practice is integrative: she brings brain science and whole-person care together — treating brain health as the physical foundation of mood, focus, and function — and honoring the person who moves through the world with it all. She is also an author, poet, emcee, speaker, and educator — and that rare combination is the heart of her work.

I’m a healer. It’s my calling, and I sprinkle on people wherever I go — the clinic, the conference stage, the jazz festival, and the everyday places where people gather and feel seen.
For more than 25 years, I’ve walked alongside children, teens, adults, and families. Along the way, I learned that true healing reaches past symptom reduction — it reconnects people to identity, purpose, resilience, and their Infinite Potential.
Healing is a partnership, not a rescue. I do my best work with people ready for change that improves their lives — and I walk it with you, a few steps ahead with my hand out, helping you reconnect with the Infinite Potential that’s already yours.
No one is meant to walk this alone. The friends who laugh with us until we cry, the ones who show up in our seasons of struggle, our friends and family who make the ordinary sacred — they are healers too. I am a healer because I’ve been held by healers.

The revolving-door model of health care doesn’t work — rushed visits, a quick prescription, and out the door, with nothing really changing. I have a license to prescribe, which is one of many tools in my toolkit to help people heal — not the only tool. So when the system kept shrinking real care down to that one tool, I built something more whole and complete — integrative psychiatry, brain health education, and transformational teaching, working as one.
I first heard the phrase in 2012, when Oprah Winfrey named her own “sweet spot” in conversation with author Gary Zukav, who affirmed what I believe is true for every one of us: “You were born to live in the sweet spot.” It resonated instantly — transcendence, flow, and a little spice, all at once. It became my show, Dr. Durr’s Living in the Sweet Spot, and grew into The Sweet Spot Method™.
To create global Mental Wealth through integrative psychiatry, brain health education, and personal growth — helping people heal their minds, fulfill their Infinite Potential, and live Life in the Sweet Spot.
